The painted dial is attributed to Aaron Willard or Spencer Nolan. The dial is signed Aaron Willard below the calendar. The clock features brass stop fluted columns and ogee bracket feet. The precision eight-day movement is distinguished by having both a deadbeat escapement while maintaining power. These rare features in addition to the fine old surface and exceptional condition makes this an example of a fine Aaron Willard Clock. (minor areas have flaking on dial; the case in center has minor wear) The finials are original to the Clock, original paper label on the interior of the door. From a prominent Cincinnati family

Rare iron Strong Box, possibly German/Spanish/Dutch. This box is extremely strong with metal panels reinforced with strap work and handmade iron rivets. Weight approximately 150-200lbs. This Box is truly a work of art. It has an ornate face with the keyhole in the center of the lid. The key is extremely large. When the key is inserted into the keyhole and turned it engages a locking mechanism in the interior that throws ten locking bolts. The iron latches on the front of the chest were used for padlocking the chest for additional security measures. This Chest could also be called an Armada because it was used by the Spanish Armada to transport gold, silver and precious stones.30.25"x19.75"x18.75"
